Biography

I have loved weavings, rugs, tapestries, most everything woven, for as long as I can remember. Upon moving to New Mexico a few years ago, I thought “now I can learn to weave”. Then one day I came upon the Fiber Arts Building at the El Rito campus of Northern New Mexico College. Finally, it seemed that my idea might become a reality.
From the moment I stepped up onto the pedals of the loom and began to feel the fabric building up under my hands, I felt that weaving was for me, and vice versa. I loved the feel of the yarn, the magic of a design taking form in front of me, the final satisfaction of seeing a finished piece that I can hardly believe I actually created!

I’ve had several “lives” so far - as a dancer, arts administrator, public school educator, management consultant. Now, here’s another life - that of the weaver. I’ve discovered that weaving is one of those universal endeavors in which the lessons of the craft parallel the lessons of life. The overs and unders, the weavings and unweavings, the thrill and the monotony, the days when you move forward and the days when you go nowhere - all in balance, all adding up to the final splendid product.
I invite you to view my creations, and to become the owner of any that you find “speak” to you or seem to belong in your home or your life. Or, contact me to request something to be made especially for you.
